Productivity

I understand that this is a bit late for contemporaneous documentation standards, but we had such a ridiculously productive weekend!

To start, J picked up a truckload of dirt on Saturday. He mounted that up around the foundation of our house to help with drainage. While he was doing that, I decided that with all the other new changes going on that I needed a change in hairstyles. I am now pleasantly rocking shoulder-length hair in an inverted bob style. It's very different, but so far, I'm loving it! After a haircut, I went grocery shopping, and came home to J power washing the driveway. Awesome!

We surprised my mom for her birthday at the Indians game Saturday afternoon. They were having their company picnic, and my uncle scored us two extra tickets. While the Tribe lost, it was great to see and hang out with the family for a little while. My mom actually cried!

On Sunday, J picked up a truckload of mulch, and we mulched all around the front and side yards and the back patio. Whew it was a lot of work, but it looks so nice now! And boy did that Bud Light taste delicious after a long day working in the yard!

In this week's news, I've started reading a new book - Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink. It's a deeply touching investigative novel about the happenings at Memorial Hospital in New Orleans during and after Katrina. It's intense. I'm also attempting to white wash the brick around our fireplace. If I can, I'll try to take some progress pictures. Always something to be done in our little corner of the earth.

Until next time...

Sum, Sum, Summertime

A new season, and another new beginning.

This is a very new and different season in my life. For the first time in my adult life, I have a summer vacation! I left my job as a CPA at a public accounting firm at the end of May. No plans, no interviews. This is really a season for me to reset, regroup, and refocus my life. Things have been going sideways for a while now, and before they spiraled out of control, I needed to take a break.

First Tomatoes
My days are now filled with chores, meal planning, budgeting, reading, and gardening. Who knew that I could garden? I actually have tomato plants that are as tall as I am. I must say that I'm quite impressed. And as mundane as a typical day may seem, I'm really enjoying it.

In the spirit of the new season, J and I hit up the Dairy Queen at about 9:30 pm last night. That is the best way to start this season of summer. I'm so lucky to get to share this journey with him.
